ALBINO

ALBINO    HuLBaNaH    Hey-Lamed-Bet-Noon-Hey

HULL-BUN-AH                   הלבנה             [LBN]

ROOTS:  The pigment-challenged ALBINO is thought to have come from the theoretical

Indo-European  (IE) “rootalbho (white).  The ALBINO is white.

לבן La(V)aN or LaBHaN is white (Genesis 30:37); הלבנה HaLBaNaH means whitening :

" . . .though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow (YaLBeNoo)" -- Isaiah 1:18.

Just white out the vowels and there's a perfect match. Unfortunately, the N got washed out too in the Latin albus (white). When a Gulf Arab man does LAUNDRY, no whites are separated. All Gulf State clothes are still white there, and whitening is laundering.

The IE “root” albho (white) likewise has no N, despite names like Alban and Albania.  ALBUMIN or egg white is הלבון  HaLBOAN in Hebrew.חלב   [K]HaLaBH (milk) indicates that the two-letter root in Hebrew for whiteness is just LB or LV. לבנה   Li(V)NaH is whiteness (Exodus 24:10),  לבנה  Li(V)NaH is a white poplar (Genesis 30:37)  andלבונה   Li(V)OANaH is a white, sweet-smelling resin (Exodus 30:34).  See

below for words from לבונה   Li(V)OANaH, frankincense (Leviticus 2:1).

לבן  LaBHaN, as colorless white, can mean the heart  (לב)  of nothingness. We might learn this from the Korean.  Bin , also pin, (empty, vacant, white) is linkable to  פנה PaNaH (cleared out -- See "VAIN").  The Korean suggests that the Bet-Noon in the 2nd sub-root of our LBN root links up to the  bilabial-nasal  “blankness” of פ-נ  Pey-Noon.

The "white" meaning links us to the  ב-ן Bet-Noon of   לבן LaBHahN, white  (see "ALBINO"), and suggests that   לבן LaBHahN (the non-color white) is the  לב LeBH, center, “the heart of”  (Exodus 15:8) of  ב-ן  Bet-Noon or bilabial-nasal emptiness. The blank slate or tabula rasa of a child’s mind can also reflect white as purity. Sub-roots LB

+ BN,  (blank or white) may add up to the ( לבLeBH) heart/will of a ( בן BeN) child.”

BLANCH, BLANK and BLOND, are not seen as M213 cognates from an LBN “white” word attested  in far older writing. Instead, these are attributed to a theoretical IE “root” called bhel-1  (there are three)  which includes the word BLACK as a derivative.

Gemini AI tells us that many world “white” words are related to white-grey ashes.  This reduced us to

the fewer MILKY or SNOWY whites that could be traced to לבן LaBHaN.  On the bright side, the white-ashes formula suggests that FAIR (light complexion) might be related to  אפר AyFeR , ashes.

In trying to make up for the burnt “white” words, I asked AI for the words for “white” in the top ten spoken isolate langugages which have no known relatives. I found 5 more “whites,” a bit soiled by the 4,000 years since The Programmer above scrambled the Edenic language program downloaded into Adam’s brain. (I apologize to the Hebrew-illiterate language experts if these 50 cognates for “isolates” rock your leaky boat.)

The Biblical לבן LaBHaN, Laban, is ironically named.  His exterior is white, innocent, even pious.

In Genesis 29:15  he generously offers his penniless guest Jacob a salaried job. But this blackguard cheats him several times, and he admits that only God kept him from killing Jacob, and from taking back

“his”daughters, grandchildren and flocks of sheep  (31:29).

A personal name officially traced to Hebrew is ALVAH.

Albion in the chart is not fully explained as the poetic name for Britain.  Seen from the south, England begins at the huge, chalky white Rock of Gibralter.

The ALPS have snowy white peaks, like  ALBANIA and LEBANON, but the Noon/N has melted away. To tourists the BLANKETING snow isn’t BLAND. More missing N in “white” words below.

Most SN “snow” words are about coldness, rather than whiteness.  See our “SNOW” entry.  But a few N-V “snow” words may be missing the Lamed/L of לבן LaBHaN as snow white.  Reverse Bet-Noon/B-N white words include NIVEOUS (snowy),  from snowy in Latin: nivalis ; Galician neve; Italian, neve; and Spanish nieve and nevar (drop that liquid).

The Bible's לבן L[V](N) is also a verb of whitening and bleaching. Therefore, some 20 words from Latin lavare (to wash) should be tossed in the hamper, such as LAVA, LAVATORY, LAVE, LAVER and LAVISH. Latin clothes are launderedin an Italian or Spanish lavanderia (LAUNDRY), where clothes are whitened or cleaned. Spanish, right after albino, drops the N with five LB words on the whiteness, or no-longer blackness of dawn: albor. Italian clearly white-washes all our washing words.

The Bible's לבן L[V](N) is also a verb of whitening and bleaching. Therefore, some 20 words from Latin lavare (to wash) should be tossed in the hamper, such as LAVA, LAVATORY, LAVE, LAVER and LAVISH. Latin clothes to be laundered, then Spanish lavanderia is a LAUNDRY, where clothes are whitened or cleaned. The N didn’t wash out in lavanderia. Spanish, right after albino, drops the N with five LB words on the whiteness, or no-longer blackness of dawn: albor, whiteness, dawn. Old French laver matches Latin lavare, to wash; the Romanian lavoar, sink, fits right in a LAVATORY (washroom). [Judith Stoop]

The scholars feel that ALBUM (a blank book), ALFRED, ALPINE, AUBURN, ELF  (see “ELFIN”) , LAUNDRY and OLIVER all descended from the made-up  IE “root” albho (white). The Fijian term above reverses the LV in the same way. This is the case in Slavic and Baltic “white” words:

There is NO WAY that Sanskrit palpulana (to launder) is from a DHV root meaning "dazzling white."  Usually the bad etymologies are allsound and no sense; this has neither . "Palpul" is a reduplicated (doubled) element, so reduce this to pl/lp or לב Lamed-Bhet in Edenic. The "ana" element functions as a suffix, and gives us a nasal N orן   Noon. In the Proto-Earth Language of Eden לבן  LaBHaN means white, and הלבן HaLBaN is to whiten or launder clothes.

Like Slavic B-L, the Australian Aborigine ( Kamilaroi ) “white” is the reversed B-L of LaBHaN.

Note:  Belarus, formerly Belorussia,  is White Russia.

“White” in the related Baltic languages are Latvian balts and Lithuanian baltas, perhaps named for the  pale color of the Baltic Sea.

Like the CASPean sea from  כסף Ke$ePH (silver), the BALTIC  sea may be named for LB-BL whiteness; a pale, leaden colorless color.)

Slavic “ALBINO” words, presumed borrowings, include:  albino -- Bosnian, Croatian;  aLBiNos - Belurusian, Bulgarian, Polish; and  alʹbinóska  альбиноска – Russian.

In French blanc (like BLANK and BLONDE) is the simple M213 metathesis of  לבן LaBHaN, but the word for (white) wheat is ble. It has dropped the N, and looks as distant from לבן  LaBHaN as the Slavic whites.  The Irish terms for white, fionn and ban, seem to have lost the initial L.

Gaelic also has bàn (white, pale, fair, vacant), bainne (milk) and fionn (white, milk).
Luan (The Moon [literary]), Diluain, as  Monday is = Moon day)

Luyia and Swahili are Bantu languages of Africa.  In Luyia   omuLaFu and -LaFu means whiteness or light.

Sanskrit   लवण     lavaá is their word for the common white mineral: salt.

Swahili the word for "white," NyeuPe, has dropped the liquid and reversed the bilabial-nasal.  Swahili words like this were neuro-linguistically scrambled, and cannot be dismissed as borrowed from Arabic. [JM]

Equivalent to "Whitey" is the Biblical name לבן La(V)aN (always Anglicized Laban). (Morally, he's a reverse Oreo: a blackguard on the inside, but showing a squeaky clean exterior.)  לבונה Le(V)OANaH (the Biblical “frankincense” of Exodus 30:34) may be behind the aromatic but troubled history of the word LAVENDER. LAVENDER is defined as “various aromatic plants… of the Mediterranean region.”  It seems like adding a pleasant odor to one’s laundry is not a recent idea.

WAN (pale) has no IE “root”, and is likely an LVN that has lost its liquid.

If Spanish vainilla (small pod, husk -- allegedly from Latin vagina, pod, sheath) is not a cognate of BIN or BAG, (with an Edenic etymon at “PENETRATE” or “BUCKET,”) then VANILLA (see "VANILLA") could be another V-N “white” word.    Vanora means white wave in Old Welsh.

A plant named for it's whitish color is  לבנה LiVNeH, white poplar (Gen. 30:37).

לבנה  Le(V)ANaH  is the (white, pale or silvery) moon (Isaiah 24;23).  In Hawaiian the N is dropped and Lamed-Bhet/L(V) is reversed, but one can see how “white” is vulavula and “moon” is vula.   The middle Bhet/(V) is dropped in Latin lūna, moon, whence the goddess LUNA, LUNACY, LUNAR, LUNATIC and LUNATION.   Moonstruck Eurocentrics of the LUNATIC FRINGE will prefer an Indo-European “root” called leuk (light, brightness) that makes LUNA a cognate of “lucid.”

Filipino  bulan, month, moon (FL) < M213   לבנה  LeBHaNah, moon.  Latin  luna, moon, drops the original (soft) Bhet/V.  French moon is thus lune,  and Monday (moon day) is lundi. See “LUNAR.”

The Malagassy “moon” (Madagascar) is volana < M213  לבנה Le)V(aNaH, moon .

In a “white” = “clean” equation, רחץ RaK[H]aTS is to wash. Reverse to Tsadi-Het-Resh, צחר TS[K]HaR, to whiten.  As understood from the lavanderia (Spanish LAUNDROMAT), laundering often meant bleaching. BLEACH  means “to whiten.”  It has the ל  Lamed and ב  Bhet (reversed), but no trace of the ן  Noon.  The Old English source, bloecan, is given the IE “ROOT” bhel1  (to shine, flash, burn, shining white..), with listed derivatives like BLANCH and BLOND.  So, we should be able to to assume that BLEACH too can be traced to  לבן LaBHaN?

Lynne Howell  allowed the linking of ABLUTION (cleansing) to the alchemy term ALBEDO (whiteness) -- also from לבן LaBHaN, white. Ablution is erroneously given an etymology that makes ab- a prefix of luere, to LAVE. The end-Noon/N of   לבן LaBHaN got washed off over 6000 years.

BLEACH in French, blanchir, German bleichen,  Portuguese branquar (white is branco) and Polish bielic show how common it is for the ן  Noon to drop, and for other letter shifts and prefixes and suffixes to disguise an Edenic etymon (like our לבן LaBHaN).

VANILLIN ( see “VANILLA) is a white, crystalline substance. If not from Latin vagina, case, pod, sheath, words like VANILLA could be an M231 metathesis of לבן La(V)aN, white.   See “BONNY.”   VANILLA can mean dull, colorless and commonplace; so LaBHaN may be a better source for BANAL than  “Old French: relating to compulsory feudal service, hence common to all, commonplace; from banban” [Online Etymological Dictionaryvia Leonard Book].

PHALAENOPSIS is from Greek phallaina (moth, the white creature). Put in the typically illogical, overstuffed IE “root” for shining white things, bhel-1 , the Greek is an M213 metathesis of לבן La(V)aN. The word is used for the phal orchid.

EDK traces BENZINE to Arabic luban jawi (frankincense from Java).  Several more לבן LaBHaN derivates have yet to be recovered. The German form is Benzin, and all languages have chemical derivatives like Benzoe (BENZOIC acid) and Benzol  (BENZENE).

As documented at length at the “VENTRAL” entry, both 2-letter sub-roots (AB and BC) of the 3-letter Edenic root generate world words. Thus לבן LaBHaN  (white) gives us both the flour-white roll from E. Europe, the BIALY (reverse ל-ב L-B), and Latin snow, nives (the ב-ן  Bet-Noon  or V-N reversed).  English has NIVAL and NIVEOUS. With ב  Bhet/BH so easily dropped, Finnish lumi (snow) is looking white as לבן La(V)aN  (M = N). Dropping the ל /L instead, Irish ban is “white.”

In the Americas, the moon is silvery, not white. Whiteness in the New Word is about purity or being sun-bleached.  לבן  LaBHaN barely gets to the Western hemisphere until the palefaces arrive.  Exceptions are above, plus  two P-L “white” words, resembling PALE,   are more likely  from  פאר P’AiR (fair) than < ß   S-B  לבן LaBHaN, white.  [FA]

Spanish albino, the skin condition, like in many languages, will exactly copy the Latin. But  Spanish “white” words like albo or albor, whiteness, drop the N. Also dropping the N of  לבן LaBHaN is

Old Celtic alb white, and, reversing to BL,  balos,  facial PALENESS.  [RW]

Welsh bal (white spot) gives us BALD.
