HEBREW TOMAHAWK

T H E  H E B R E W   T O M A H A W K   (new entry alert)

TOMAHAWK   TSaMa(S) + HeeKaH   Tsade-Mem-(Sahf) + Hey-Khaph-Hey
TSAW-(mahs) + HaK-ey                         צמת + הכה               [TM + HK]
ROOTS: TOMAHAWK, the Native American axe or hatchet, is initially from Virginia Algonquian tamahaac.  The weapon cut with a strike, so two elements are involved: beating and cutting.
The first, TM  cutting element, is seen in  צמת  TSaMa(S) , to cut, to destroy (II Samuel 22:41). See this cutting root in Fernando Aedo’s table below.
The second, HK element, is seen in the imperative form (always the core-root) of  NaKaH, to strike a blow .   הכה HeeKaH,  to “smite” (Genesis 32:9 Jerusalem Bible/Koren, KJV).  This recalls HACK1 To cut or chop with repeated and irregular blows” and tools like the HACKSAW.
Designed   dental-nasal   opposites of  צמת  TSaMa(S) or TSaMaT,  cut off,  include:  צמד TSeMeD, something put together  [TEAM],   תם  ToaM, whole,  and תמיד   TaMeeYD, everlasting [TIME].

BRANCHES:  Fernando Aedo provides global dental-nasal cutting words, and several Native American forms of TOMAHAWK:
